Protection of sensitive components of a quadrocopter in case of a fall
In the course of a robotics project, students equipped quadrocopters with miniature shock absorbers. In order to avoid costly repairs and associated downtime when researching flight characteristics and learning how to use the helicopter, the prospective academics installed the self-adjusting ACE SC650 miniature shock absorbers on both the top and bottom of the helicopter. These reliably protect the batteries, three-phase drives, sensors and an optionally integrated camera from damage in case of a crash.
Matching Applications
Profile Dampers - TUBUS TS
Protective structures for treadmill drives in space research When training in zero gravity, a harness with bungee cords is used to ensure that trainees do not become disengaged. Three ACE profile dampers with a linear-working facility are utilized in this case. One TUBUS is positioned in the pneumatic cylinder, while the other two are put in place in the rest of the system. All the dampers have the task of protecting the system if the treadmill drive belts become damaged. Otherwise, the cylinder would reach a very high speed and become seriously damaged at the end of the stroke.
Industrial Gas Springs – Push Type - GS-8 to GS-70
Opening and closing mechanisms for helicopter doors In Airbus EC 135 rescue helicopters, maintenance-free, self-contained opening and closing systems with gas springs from ACE are installed in the access doors. There, they allow the crew to enter or exit the helicopter quickly, thus contributing to enhanced safety. The GS-19-300 gas springs (push type) provide a defined retraction speed and secure engagement of the door lock. The integrated end position damper allows gentle closing of the door and saves wear and tear on the valuable, lightweight material.
Safety Bumpers - TUBUS TC and TC-S
TUBUS made to measure for transport by helicopter Helicopters are lightly built and must be handled with appropriate care, especially if these flying objects are to be brought to their place of operation as air cargo. Then the interior of the transport aircraft is usually only slightly larger than the helicopter body. For protection there are efficient overall damping systems from SMJ Sondermaschinenbau GmbH.<br/>Especially for this application ACE has modified safety dampers of the type TUBUS of the TC-S series. The custom-made product is integrated into the landing system and increases the energy absorption capacity by 27.88 lb. In this way the dampers prevent damage during extreme landings or other vibrations during the flight.
Safety Shock Absorbers - SCS33 to SCS64
Emergency stop systems for turntables in aircraft construction The basic mount of this coordinate measuring machine for the production of parts in the aircraft industry is made of granite and must not be damaged. To avoid damage from operating errors or mishandling, all movement axes were equipped with safety shock absorbers of ACE's productfamily SCS33 to SCS64. If the turntables malfunction the safety shock absorbers decelerate the loads before expensive damage can occur to the granite measuring tables.
